Job Description:

We are an IT Management Consulting Firm located in Schaumburg providing IT services for small and mid-sized companies in the surrounding areas.

We currently have a client in the Chicago area seeking a Sr. Desktop Support / Network Administrator with a strong background in supporting a Windows LAN Network.

Reporting directly to the CIO, this individual will be the lead role, and go-to person to Manage the local network, manage users, provide desktop support and continuously work with the CIO to make improvements to the office technology. Proactively embracing cutting edge technology solutions and taking pride in the knowledge gained through overcoming complex technical challenges can be expected.

Key Responsibilities:

The applicant must have strong experience in the following key areas: 


  • Windows Server Administration -- 2008/R2, 2012/R2
  • Windows Client OS troubleshooting -- Windows XP/7/8/8.1/10
  • Active Directory Administration -- Users, Groups, OU's etc.
  • Group Policy Administration -- creating GPO's from scratch, inheritance, permissions, item-level targeting etc.
  • Domain Administration -- Domain Controllers, Replication, Health, FSMO Roles, etc.
  • Virtualization -- HyperV, VMWare
  • Networking -- Switches, Routers, Subnetting & IP's, VLAN, LAN/WAN, DNS, DHCP
  • Experience working with Firewalls
  • Hardware -- Server hardware, RAID Configurations
  • Terminal Services / Remote Desktop Services
  • Exchange Administration
  • Office365 & Google Apps
  • Troubleshooting Hardware/Software

Responsibilities

  • Management of Applications, Servers and Infrastructure at client sites
  • Resolve any hardware/software issues
  • Provide technical documentation
  • Interact and coordinate with co-workers, clients and hardware/software vendors on complex issue resolution
  • Monitor/review systems daily
  • Effectively communicate with hardware technician and on-site personnel to replace or troubleshoot hardware issues
  • Provision user accounts and group permissions
  • Develop group policies, understand inheritance, and order in which policies are applied, logon/logoff scripts
  • Research and deployment of new technology to be used for clients -- examples include DR strategies, cloud based content filtering and A/V, virtualization, etc.
  • Conduct troubleshooting of issues associated with Remote Desktop Services, along with installing new software, pushing out policies, folder redirection and profiles
  • Administer HyperV and VMWare installations

Requirements

  • To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in IT
  • 5+ years' System Administration experience with Windows Server 2008/R2
  • Experience with Server 2012/R2 is preferred
  • 5+ years’ supporting LAN technologies; DNS, DHCP, VLAN, STP, VTP, SIP, SSL, NAT, MPLS etc.
  • Experience with WAN technologies/routing protocols; OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, RIP, VoIP, etc.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of network protocols, configurations, and operations
  • Ability to identify solutions in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, professionalism, positive attitude and desire to learn
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field, required
  • Experience working in a small office environment is preferred
  • CCNA, MCSE, MCITP certification a plus
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S. for any employer
  • Must be able to travel within the U.S. on occasion
  • Must have 24/7 availability for emergencies with some weekend and afterhours work
