Job Description
Join our team as a Sr. Database Engineer in a hybrid Boston role. Design, develop, and optimize databases, manage SQL Server/PostgreSQL/MySQL environments, implement DBaaS (Azure/AWS), ensure data security, and collaborate across teams to deliver robust database solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize database schemas for efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Administer and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
- Leverage Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) solutions from Azure or AWS for scalable database management.
- Implement and oversee database backup and recovery strategies.
- Develop and optimize stored procedures to enhance application performance.
- Ensure database security by enforcing access controls and encryption protocols.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.
- Perform database administration tasks, including configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to fulfill database requirements.
- Manage application-dependent data across multiple environments.
- Automate and publish scheduled monthly application reports.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in database design, development, and administration.
- Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and MySQL.
- Experience with AWS S3 and Python for data management and automation.
- Familiarity with Oracle database systems.
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
- Experience with Databricks or Data Lakehouse environments is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in virtual teams to deliver high-quality database solutions.
