Spectrum is hiring a Lead Database Administrator to manage database installations, optimize performance, and develop backup strategies. This role requires 10+ years of experience in database administration, expertise in Postgres, Trino, and Kubernetes, and strong troubleshooting skills. - Leading the installation and configurations of databases.
- Developing backup and recovery strategies for Database Management Systems.
- Utilizing state of the art diagnostic tools to identify and resolve performance issues.
- Collaborating with production support to implement projects.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience working with database management systems in testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field and/or equivalent work experience.
Technical skills:
- Knowledge of Database Architecture including its implementation. (Postgres preferred).
- Understanding knowledge of Instance, database and query tuning to improve the performance of the database/application.
- Knowledge of software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.).
- Good understanding of Capacity Planning to sustain business growth, Change Management procedures, Disaster Recovery (DR) methodologies
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with all levels of business users in a professional manner.
- Effectively consults with department managers and leaders and show judgment and initiative in order to accomplish job duties.
- Able to prioritize, organize effectively, make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure.
Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Ability to communicate in a straightforward manner both orally and in writing with all levels of management and company personnel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Trino or Presto DB
- Strong understanding of Oracle or MySQL DB
- Experience working in Kubernetes
